ROADmAP (Realizing Optimization Around Diet and Physical Activity)

Our ROADmAP study is led by Dr. Jennifer Leng and Dr. Francesca Gany. Their work is home of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center’s Immigrant Health and Cancer Disparity Service. Taxi Network program hosts Health Fairs throughout the New York City’s 5 boroughs. Prior work from the lead researchers and others have identified taxi drivers having high rates of obesity and don’t not always have access to information on healthy food choices, diet, and exercise. Although there is a lot of evidence on effective weight loss interventions for the general population, there is currently a lack of data on how to optimize weight loss approaches for this hard-to-reach, predominantly immigrant and minority, and low socioeconomic status population. Drivers must endure working conditions that can interfere with their ability to meet diet and physical activity guidelines.

FITx3 Study Colorectal Cancer Prevention in Black Community
We are happy to introduce the FITx3 RCT Program, a study that is looking at increasing colorectal cancer screening rates among black and African American men. If you have been FIT tested in the past year, identify as black/African American, and between the ages of 45 and 75, we invite you to participate!
We are asking our participants to talk to their friends about getting screened for colorectal cancer by getting FIT tested. If you complete the study, you will earn $150 as a thank-you for your time.
If you are interested, but have not been FIT tested, we can help!
Please contact one of our navigators at (917) 280-3286 or (646) 740-8553, and let us know that you are interested in making an appointment to receive a FIT kit. We will help make you an appointment at Ralph Lauren Cancer Center in Harlem. For more information, click here.
